Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA), Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, has ordered for the upgrade of facilities at the House of Assembly Chapel of Peace.The Speaker gave the order on Monday while addressing worshippers at the Special Thanksgiving and Solemn Assembly held at the Assembly Chapel to usher in the 2024 legislative year.RT. Hon. Otong said the Solemn Assembly was organised to provide an opportunity for the Assembly members and staff to thank God for His love and protection in the past years, while also seeking God’s face for the House, as the new year gathers momentum.The Speaker said the Assembly would continue to appreciate God for all His benevolence, and urged members and staff to live a life of gratitude to God.Earlier in his message, Rev. Dr. Iniobong Udoh of Victory Cathedral, said it was rewarding for Christians to always thank God for His bountiful blessings all around.Preaching on the theme: ” Journey with Joy”, the Cleric reminded believers that God would never leave them alone, irrespective of the circumstances of life. Rev. Udoh, who drew his message from Psalms 16: 11 and Habakkuk Chapter 3: 17, 18, urged the Assembly members to strive to walk with God in their daily dealings, noting that success only comes when God is placed first.Special intercessory prayers were offered for the House of Assembly, led by the Clerk, Mrs Nsikabasi Orok, for Akwa Ibom State, led by Member for Mkpat Enin State Constituency, Hon. Uwem Imoh-Ita and for Nigeria, led by Member for Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency, Engr. Pastor Ubong Attah. The Solemn Assembly was attended by the leadership and members of the 8th Assembly, Staff of the House of Assembly and the Assembly Service Commission.
