Anietie Eka flags off 5km outer loop, access road to Smart City Estate at Mbak Etoi

In line with the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno to remodel Uyo, the state capital into a smart city, the Executive Chairman, Uyo Capital City Development Authority,( UCCDA), Rt Hon Anietie Eka, has flagged -off grading of outer loop /access road to the Smart City Estate at Mbak Etoi Community in Uyo.Addressing traditional leaders on Monday at the palace of the Clan Head of Etoi, Etubom Boniface Okon, Eka, applauded Pastor Umo Eno, for entrusting Uyo Capital City Development Authority into his care.The Executive Chairman recounted the importance of fatherly blessings the clan head gave him during his electioneering, adding that it was wise to give honour to whom honour is due. Eka disclosed that he was in the palace to officially consult and inform the clan head, village heads and chiefs of Etoi Clan of the intention of government to build a Smart City Estate in Etoi Clan which he said would bring development, employment opportunities and reduce to a great extent, the issues of insecurity.He therefore sued for cooperation from all stakeholders and appealed to them to ensure nobody thwart government’s efforts in making Uyo a destination for all. “Since you all supported me from the beginning, I am here to show myself to you. Pastor Umo Eno has a lot to do for the people. I want to see how to make Uyo more beautiful. “Governor has given us mandate to ensure development is extended to the rural areas. We are ready to bring better things to Uyo.” Eka said. Responding, the Clan Head of Etoi, Etubom Boniface Okon hailed Governor Umo Eno for appointing their son to head UCCDA. The monarch advised Rt. Hon. Anietie Eka to take God as his sole helper in all he does. In his words, “We have nothing to argue. I appreciate this gesture and I call for unity and cooperation.”Also speaking, a development expert, Dr. Udom Sunday, urged his kinsmen to embrace the opportunity, describing the project as one that will herald a new Uyo and make it an investment hub. Speaking on behalf of the youth, Godwin Jackson Akpan, popularly known as Sir Wilker, gave a nod to the project and promised to mobilise supporters for it.He assured the UCCDA chairman that the youths would give him the needed support to ensure the dream of building a smart city in the clan come to fruition.Highlight of the event were prayers of blessing offered by the Clan Head of Etoi.
