The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Science and Technology has rounded off defence exercise from various ministries, departments and agencies which was focused on advancing digital space of these MDAs.
The exercise which held at the Assembly Conference Room, was organized by the House Committee on Science and Technology led by the Chairman, Hon. Uduak-obong Ekpo Ufot.
The defence which lasted for three days, commenced on Monday, 26 February, 2024 and ended today, Wednesday, 28 February 2023.
Addressing the participating MDAs, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Uduak-obong Ekpo Ufot stated that the reason the committee set up the exercise was to ascertain the level of digital compliance of the state MDAs.
According to him, the world is fast growing in the digital space, therefore causing the rising need for the state MDAs to take advantage of digital transformation for efficient service delivery.
He noted, “there are some of the MDAs which I’m aware; they’ve over 300 computers sitting down there and they only use it for findings and checking, whereas, there ought to be other utilizing methods for those tools. So, we’re here to make the state exist at a more digitally compliance”
Hon. Uduak-obong Ekpo Ufot who is also member representing Etinan State Constituency, assured that the committee was committed towards ensuring that the state digitally meet with the global transformation.
Amongst the MDAs who appeared before the committee today include; Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Ministry of Works and Fire Service, Internal Revenue Service, (AKISIEC) and Ministry of Lands and Housing.
