Isidore extols Patience Umo Eno, Emem Ibanga’s exemplary leadership

A legal luminary, Barrister Isidore Bassey, has extolled the wife of the governor, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno and the Transition Committee Chairman of Nsit Atai LGA, Rt. Hon. Emem Ibanga, for their exemplary leadership.Barr. Bassey who made this known in his home town, Ndon Ikot Itie Udung in Nsit Atai LGA while addressing news men, acknowledged the motherly role played by the the duo in ensuring peace and development, especially as it concerns the settlement of a land dispute between his community and Ekpene Ukim in Uruan LGA which started in 1940.He said the recent symbolic tree planting to demarcate the boundary, which also signalled the end of war between the two communities would stand as a very big achievement of this administration and leadership of Rt. Hon. Emem Ibanga in Nsit Atai. The legal luminary noted that before now, the land dispute had claimed many lives, most of which were young, energetic and virile men from both communities, a situation he said hampered development in the two communities. In his words, “while celebrating all mothers and potential mothers in this year’s mothers’ day, I want to use their Excellencies, Pastor(Mrs) Patience Umo Eno, Akon Eyakenyi and Rt. Hon. Emem Ibanga as points of contact to appreciate all mothers. “These three women of valour have contributed so much to the development of the state and Nsit Atai in particular, and I can’t celebrate mothers without mentioning them. God will bless them especially for their involvement in the demarcation of the boundary between my village and Ekpene Ukim; to end the age- long communal war that had claimed so many lives from both communities”.Barr. Bassey said he was grateful to the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for providing the people of Nsit Atai LGA with a devoted and purposeful leader in the person of Hon. Emem Ibanga. He said Emem Ibanga had over the years proven that ‘what a man can do, a woman can do even better’ through her numerous projects, including the building and completion of the Peace House ( an office complex), grading of rural roads, provision of good drinking water to different communities, donation of equipment to primary Health Centre at Odot, sports development, among others.Barr. Bassey therefore, urged parents not to neglect their female children whom he described as potential mothers by giving them the required training that will make them to take their rightful position in future. “My appeal to parents is that they should train their daughters to prepare them for the challenges ahead. It is such training that will make them to take the centre stage tomorrow”.The Legal luminary said he would continue to respect all mothers, especially those who he noted had paid their dues by encouraging others to defy tradition and myths to achieve their God- given potentials.
