‘Tiana Johnartz’ beats 209 contestants to win Akwa Ibom Talent Show Season 2 competition…receives N1m prize By Benjamin Jimmy

Tiana Johnartz, known as Christiana Effiong John, a fine artist on Sunday morning, emerged the winner of the Akwa Ibom Talent Show (Season 2) competition, after beating 209 other contestants with a total of 395 points.Christiana John, whose stage name is Tiana Johnartz, was therefore, awarded the sum of one million naira prize, while the first runner up from the dance category received five hundred thousand and the second from the category of singers went home with three hundred thousand naira.The talent hunt competition which was sponsored by Bishop Daniel Jack, a US-based Akwa Ibomite, started on Saturday night at Ibom Hall, IBB Avenue, Uyo, and ended in the early hours of Sunday morning. Recall that Akwa Ibom Talent Show Season 2 competition officially started on Tuesday, 26 March, 2024, with a total of 210 contestants who enrolled and were put through the rigours of the two stages of audition and eviction. At the end of the audition and eviction segments on Friday, 29 March, 2024, this reporter who had followed the event, authoritatively gathered that out of the 210 contestants who battled for the N1m prize, 46 made it to the finals. Out of the 46 contestants who went into the finals, 20 were dropped at the end of the first round. The second round had 12 contestants who could not pull through to the final round. The third round which had only 14 contestants left, eventually saw the winner from the drawing and painting category emerge. In the three rounds of the competition, the winner, Christiana John, an Akwa Ibom indigene, was able to draw Bishop Daniel Jack, the sponsor of the competition and two other individuals without using their pictures. Speaking to Naija to the World after the announcement of the results by Mr. Moses Eskor, the Chief Judge in the contest, Miss Christiana John expressed appreciation to God for helping her remain consistent and focused during the times she was said was rehearsing on her own, the audition and eventually the eviction segments of the competition. She said although the competition took its toll on her, having spent many nights of sleeplessness in preparation for the competition, she believed that her emergence was both a handiwork of God and a reward for diligence, consistency and self-motivation. Tiana Johnartz recounted days she used to paint in church and draw people without charging them a fee, admitted that Akwa Ibom Talent Show (Season 2 )competition was her first painting experience on a live stage done within a shortest possible time. In her words, “ It has been an amazing experience for me. This is my first time painting on live a stage outside church. There was a time I used to draw people free of charge. It was as a result of passion. This, I would say, has kept me going. “ I have had a lot of sleepless nights trying to prepare for this competition. There was a time a ran out of materials because I was using the ones I had for rehearsals. Some people may not know this. I think the stress; everything I put in is worth it. I really worked for this and I so much thank God that He rewarded that my little effort”.While advising those who are yet to discover their talent, Tiana Johnartz said: “ they should do what think they like doing. Explore that thing that gives you joy when you do it. Talents can only be discovered in the midst of passion for something”.While also advising the contestants who lost not to be discouraged, believing that there is God’s timing in everything, the Akwa Ibom Talent Show Season 2 winner thanked Bishop Daniel Jack, the sponsor of the show, as well as the organising team for channelling their resources and time towards the discovery and development of talents in the state. She said such gestures would not only unearth talents and encourage creativity, but would also serve as a platform for opening up the creative industry in Nigeria for Nigerians to realise their dreams.Earlier, Dr. Daniel Jack who spoke during the competition via zoom, said the talent hunt exercise was his own was of giving back to the society through the discovery and development of talents embedded in Nigerian children.While advising the contestants to seize the opportunity to discover their talents, the Ikono- born indigene pledged to continue to plough his resources into talent discovery and development, as this, he said, holds the future for Nigeria.Akwa Ibom Talent Show started last year in Akwa Ibom State, with 166 contestants who battled for the first prize of one million naira. Just like season 1 last year, season 2 also had contestants drawn from different creative segments such as comedy, gospel songs, dance, poetry, reggae songs, acrobatics, painting and drawing, among others.
