Emem Emmanuel Ibanga was appointed the Transition Committee Chairman Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area on 7th December, 2023, the people of the area were in jubilation for one main reason.The reason was that Hon. Emem Ibanga was coming to bring more development to the communities within her jurisdiction; development in areas where time and chance didn’t allow her to penetrate in her tenure as the Executive Chairman.However, for the few months in office as the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Emem Ibanga has exhibited a high sense of people -oriented leadership in an effort to make her people feel the positive impact of her administration and by extension, the government of Pastor Umo Eno.To this end, Emem is currently embarking on massive road grading in the area. The flag -off took for this fulfilled promise took place at Ikot Edong Village. This is to be replicated in other political Wards and villages. The whole essence of this developmental strides is to open up the area for economic growth and unhindered social activities.Recently too, the administration of Rt. Hon. Emem Ibanga entered into partnership with security chiefs and traditional rulers in the local government to form synergy to ensure peaceful coexistence amongst the rural dwellers. It is true that a peaceful society encourages economic growth and development. Therefore, in line with her avowed commitment to ensure this peace reigns, Hon. Emem Ibanga has continued to evolve measures to sustain it. In the area of sports, Emem is known for her penchant for excellence hence, during the last Governor’s Cup Competition, Nsit Atai had one of the best outings in terms of kits. Players were well motivated, the coaching crew and the fans who were part of the event. In addition, the just concluded AFCON tournament was beamed live at the local government headquarters, thus giving the residents of the local government the opportunity to enjoy the moment as if they were live at Cote D’Ivoire. This is what Hon. Emem Ibanga stands for – uniting the people through sports and development.Few weeks ago, the partnership with the state committee on boundary adjustment paid off as the aged-long boundary dispute between Ndon Ikot Itie Udung and Ikot Edong Village in Nsit Atai and Ekpene Ukim in Uruan that lasted since 1940 was finally out to rest. This became possible because Hon. Emem Ibanga worked for this peaceful resolution.Many other laudable projects traceable to the leadership prowess of this Amazon includes provision of standard boreholes at Ikot Nyoho edong, Afahabang and Ikot Ubok Udom.Emem Ibanga will forever be remembered by some families for sponsoring corrective surgeries to heal their children of cleft palates/ lips to end the stigma that relegated their children to the background. The administration of Emem Ibanga has also partnered with an NGO to provide free medical services to the people, donation of medical equipment, as well as were the revitalization of the Primary Healthcare in Odot Community. This clearly explains why Hon. Emem Ibanga is loved by her people who see as the doyen of rural development.The modern abattoir in the local government is yet another the achievement of this quintessential woman. Today, meat seller walk into the abattoir and find a decent environment to do their business. This is imprint she has always dreamt to leave behind.To put her administration in motion for effective delivery of benefits of democracy, Emem has presented new vehicles to principal officers of the council. This is to boost their morale and encourage hard work. The Paramount Ruler of Nsit Atai and other individuals have also benefited from the car gifts.To ease the burden of the people of Odot 2, the administration of Emem Ibanga, in partnership with the village council, constructed a bridge over the village stream to link the village with other communities. This has given the people access road to carry out their business activities without any hindrance whatsoever.In the area of rural electrification, a brand new transformer was donated to Odot 3 to replace the vandalized one. This transformer supplies light to the local government headquarters.Hon. Emem Ibanga has also made a mark of achievements in building ultra-modern office complex for local government workers. This is in addition to values that she has added to the work environment in the council.Looking at her blueprint and momentum with which she is going about development, one can only imagine where Nsit Atai will be, at the end of her tenure in office. Indeed, Hon. Emem Ibanga is working.
